Goals and objectives

The LIFE SURE project has as main objective to test and demonstrate an innovative dredging system that is cost-effective and pose low impacts on the surrounding environment in comparison to conventional dredging systems.

The objectives will be met by using an innovative dredging method that does not disturb the aquatic environment and consequently human health.

Sediments will be removed and treated as secondary raw material within the circular economy concept.  The project aims also to disseminate, transfer and replicate the project ideas and results within Sweden and Europe.

Specific objectives of the project are:

  1. To test and demonstrate an optimal dredging process to recover and have a beneficial use of 70 percent of the dredged sediments.
  2. To demonstrate a mobile and “low-flow” dredging technology that can be remotely operated and has low energy.
  3. To verify the hypothesis that such technique has low impacts on the surrounding environment
  4. To disseminate the project methods and results to similar problem-owners in Europe and other regions.

The LIFE SURE project works with two concepts: circular economy and innovative dredging methods.

These are the actions LIFE SURE will work with during the project.

Expected results

Demonstration of a non-conventional dredging technology and use of sediment uptake.
