The LIFE SURE project has two partners: Kalmar municipality and Linnaeus University.
There are 34,000 registered students at Linnaeus University.
Linnaeus University is located in Växjö and Kalmar and offers 150 degree programmes and 2,000 single-subject courses. You can study different subjects within arts and humanities, health and life sciences, the social sciences, the natural sciences, technology, and business and economics. There are also a number of different contract educations, like the headmaster training and police education.
Research at Linnaeus University is of high quality, nationally as well as internationally, and covers a wide range of disciplines.
Our research is often conducted through close collaboration with industries, companies and other partners outside academia. The aim is to move our society towards sustainable development and an environment that does not pose any negative effect on ecological status and public health. We do research in different scales, such as laboratory, pilot and full scale since it is important to consider real conditions to achieve adequate results.
Kalmar municipality is a Baltic coastal city in the southeast corner of Sweden. With a total of 68 500 inhabitants the city is the capital of Kalmar County (230 000 inhabitants) and the regional center for public administration, business, culture and environmentally sustainable innovations. Partnering with the city of Växjö, Kalmar is also home of the Linnaeus University.
The municipality of Kalmar has been renowned for its determined work in areas as social and ecological sustainability. The city have got a very ambitious plan to reduce fossil fuel and achieve a high degree of energy efficiency, the aim is to be a carbon neutral city by 2030. Many strategic documents and concrete actions have been put in place in order to make sure that the goals are reached. International exchange has given a lot of important imput to Kalmar in this work. To be part of this project is therefore a priority.
